The shower is amazing.

I stand under the water,

get clean for the first time in forever.

I wash off the road

and the fear

and the exhaustion.

I didn’t realize

how much I missed

simply being clean.

We each can have our own room.

We each can have our own bed,

but we sleep together.

We pile together

in the large living room,

on the floor.

As if we are still on the road,

huddled in the tent.

It feels safe.

At dinner,

(They have a giant room where everyone eats together.)

Mama welcomes us.
